The Blue Ridge and Smokies
Our original plan was to make Marietta, but the restaurant where Debbie likes the spinach salad is closed on Mondays. So, we diverted west on I-40 and then up on to the Blue Ridge Parkway near Mt. Mitchell. We drove up to Mt. Mitchell, had lunch there and then took pictures. It was a beautiful day to be on Mt. Mitchell. It is usually socked in 80% of the time. So we went from sea level to about 6600 feet. (hmmm about the same delta as some other family members going from 5800 to 12K.)
We then took the parkway to I-40 and then cut over to Cherokee and up and over the Great Smokie Mountains. (Yes, another National Park).
