Sweet Home....

We accomplished our first goal of the vacation!  We made it to Alabama!  We stopped to take this picture and after we pulled away under the railroad bridge the shadow of a freight locomotive pass right front of us!   Bob never saw it coming or he would have posted a picture of that too.

We left home at noon, and the had lunch before we left Springboro.  So we got a late start. Bob didn't have his music setup, so he didn't play "My Old Kentucky Home" until we passed the Old Kentucky Home State Park on I-65.  But he had "Rocky Top" ready for the Tennessee state line and for Alabama? yep "Sweet Home Alabama" - The original.

After being given a wonderful Christmas present last year, guess what Bob forgot to bring with him?  Yep, the flask. And we drove past Mark and Jack's places  ;-(

At a rest stop, Bob went first and came out of the gas station with a ice cream sandwich cookie.  So, everyone else had to go back in and get one.

We are in Huntsville. Home of the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers hockey team!  Yep, even going south we found a hockey school! Actually that is our second this year, as we stepped inside the Compton Family Ice Center inSouth Bend, IN when we took Maria to see St. Mary's.

Tomorrow, we plan to go past the campus and to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.  Then we are going to try to get to Pensacola... maybe before the Naval aviation museum closes.
