Monday - Pittsburgh

Monday morning started with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a trip to Wal-Mart.  Bob managed to forget the power adapter to the computer and we use it to make reservations.... as well as blog.  Then we headed into Pittsburgh.

In doing some reasearch, Sarah found the National Aviary in Pittsburgh.  It is on the North Side in Allegheny Center near the old Buhl Planetarium.  The girls took lots of pictures!!

We saw a bird show! We saw a falcon, a vulture and black kite.

Other pictures that the girls took:
One of the Sea Eagles, Kodiak, was hatched at the Cincinnati Zoo.
Sarah snaped this pretty tucan

Sarah took the picture of this colorful Macaw

Maria wanted to take pictures of flowers with her new camera,  this is the only cool one we found.

Maria tried to get the Kookabura to laugh, but it wouldn't until Maria walked away.

Then we headed for lunch.  Sarah found this place called Sugar Cafe in the Dormont section of Pittsburgh.  So we checked it out!   They had the best grilled cheese I have ever had outside my own house - Bob. Debbie had a spinach salad and Maria a chicken sandwich -- which she traded half to Bob for the grilled cheese.  The cookie, cupcakes and muffins were good for dessert, too.

Then we tried to find the Pittsburgh Botanical Garden, but only found  an office, the Garden is still under construction.  Maria really wants to use her new camera to take pictures of flowers.  We went to Phipps Conservatory last year, but we were afraid it would be too hot this time.

So, we headed back to our hotel, checked-in and the girls decided they didn't want to go to a baseball game.  So, Mom, the hero, took them to a movie and Bob went to see the Pirates play the Astros.  He wanted to see the Astros play in the National League one last time and see the Pirates play at home.
